Free Skills Bootcamps (England)
Skills Bootcamps are free courses lasting up to 16 weeks for new, returning or upgrading HGV drivers. You can apply if you're 19 or older and hold a full car (category B) licence. They cover getting a provisional licence, including your medical exam, plus the 4 Driver CPC tests and one re-sit per test. Find a course at GOV.UK Skills Bootcamps.
Employer funding
Employers who recruit someone who completed a Skills Bootcamp pay nothing. To train an existing employee, an employer contributes 10% if it has 1 to 249 employees, or 30% if it has 250 or more. Many hauliers also fund training directly, so it's worth asking.
